Most of the children’s roles (Act I Mice, Soldiers, Party Children & Act II Baby Armadillos) take place on Sunday afternoons. Rehearsals for these roles will start @ October 2  & continue every Sunday until performance week.  Act II and Snow Scene dancers rehearse primarily on Saturday afternoons.  Rehearsals for most children’s roles meet once a week unless a scene isn’t progressing as it needs to – but that is rare. Performance week-end  there will be Friday and Saturday stage rehearsals and  performances on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.

***There will be no rehearsals over Fall Break Thursday October 10 – Sunday 13) and no rehearsals over Thanksgiving Break (Wednesday November 27 – Sunday December 1).

Every dancer must attend every rehearsal called for his/her role. There are only 9 week-ends to stage the entire production. Some rehearsal dates  may conflict with other events: theatrical productions, school programs, extra-curricular school activities such as band trips, competitions, church programs, music/dance/piano recitals, etc.   Cast members will be expected to  give The Oklahoma Nutcracker rehearsals priority over other events. Exceptions may be made in the event of severe illness and family emergencies.

Parents are required to help with volunteer tasks such as setting up  and helping with the Sand Plum Fairy Tea Party, the gift boutique or with lobby decoration. All parents will be able to be seated in the auditorium when the curtain goes up for the performance. Costumes are provided by the Norman Ballet Company. Dancers must provide their own tights and shoes in most cases.
